CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY

On Friday 8th March 2019, Grades 3/4/5 and 6 went to Reedy Swamp to do Clean up Australia Day. There were some people there to help us. They talked about the rivers, the land, how humans are destroying the areas and how we should look after our environment. They told us that our rubbish can kill fish, ducks and birds.

We need to make sure we clean up after ourselves and look after the animals’ habitats.

We all wore fluoro vests and gloves and we had to sort the rubbish into recycling or rubbish waste. We found some strange things, as well as lots of rubbish. There was a scooter, a walkie talkie, shot gun shells, a radio, shoes, a baby dummy as well as lots of other rubbish.

We were really surprised and sad to see so much rubbish dumped into the natural environment, ruining the animals’ habitats.
